HR Generalist


    Responsibilities

    HR Community Leadership

    • Collaborates with leadership teams to foster a unified “One Microsoft” approach, offering guidance and coaching when needed. Creates clarity in aligning people priorities across business areas, ensuring consistency and identifying synergies while preventing duplication of efforts. Partners with various HR functions to ensure seamless delivery of HR services such as onboarding, offboarding, statutory reporting, and tracking. Engages in HR governance alongside HR Business Partners/Directors and Centers of Excellence (COEs), while supporting budget management for the HR team and driving a customer-first mindset within leadership teams.

    HR Governance

    • Leads governance for specific regions or client groups, establishing and managing policies for geographical areas or clients. Ensures alignment of HR across different business stakeholders, maintaining accurate HR information (e.g., immigration, mobility, offer governance). Promotes compliance with Microsoft HR practices and contributes to process improvements. Works closely with stakeholders in Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Corporate Affairs, and Legal to ensure HR operations are efficiently executed.

    Statutory Accountability

    • Keeps up to date with legal trends, regulations, and standards that impact HR policies, ensuring compliance with labor laws and other applicable regulations (e.g., health and safety, benefits, GDPR, legal localization). Provides leadership with actionable advice on adapting policies in line with legal requirements and collaborates with workers’ councils and unions as necessary. Oversees HR-related legal and financial risks and represents HR in compliance governance committees, reinforcing Microsoft’s brand, values, and image.

    Employee Experience/Engagement

    • Acts as an advocate for employees, focusing on their overall experience and ensuring the implementation of policies creates a positive and inclusive work environment. Works with internal communications to align messages, develops strategies for improved engagement, and manages employee programs (e.g., ERGs). Plays a key role in enhancing employee experiences and supports initiatives that drive business impact. Promotes inclusive policies and benefits for all employees.

    External Impact

    • Builds relationships with local communities and professional networks, engaging in activities that align with Microsoft’s values and brand image (e.g., IWD, DigiGirlz, local HR events). Networks with HR stakeholders and external business leaders to influence business decisions and share insights that can drive future business success. Uses social and professional media to engage with external HR communities and support the development of future workplace policies and programs.

    Projects, Programs, and Initiatives

    • Works with peers to implement HR projects and programs, such as developing talent acquisition plans, managing pension/health plans, or integrating new companies. Develops project plans and manages execution, ensuring that emerging requirements are addressed and met.

    Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery

    • Supports the leadership team in shaping crisis management strategies, including emergency responses, business continuity, and communication plans. Helps manage the company’s Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and employee well-being initiatives during and after crises, ensuring employee support.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Legal, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in HR or related functions (e.g., hiring, training, performance management) with knowledge of employment laws and policies.
    • Proficiency in both written and spoken Arabic and English.

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree in HR, Legal, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
